The Shocking 99-Rated Maradona Glitch in FC 25: Is It Real or Just a Myth?

When it comes to FC 24 Ultimate Team, 99-rated cards are considered the holy grail typically reserved for the absolute best of the best during the final stages of the game cycle. But what if someone already has one? What if a glitch allowed players to bypass EA's system and unlock an early 99-rated version of Diego Maradona? While that sounds impossible, one player's discovery has left the community buzzing. This isn't a clickbait rumor it might be one of the most insane FC 24 myths that could actually be true.

The story started during a casual Twitch livestream, where a viewer claimed they had the first 99-rated Maradona card in the game. Naturally, the streamer was skeptical. After all, only four players in FC 24 have received a 98-rated version so far: Harry Kane, Griezmann, Ibrahima Konaté, and Maradona. So how could someone already have a 99? Initially brushed off as a joke, the story took a twist when video footage and full stat breakdowns of the card were shared live and they looked incredibly convincing.

The Stats Behind the 99 Maradona: More Than Just a Visual Trick?

After receiving screenshots and clips from the viewer, the streamer decided to investigate. And the stats were jaw-dropping: 98 pace, 98 shooting, 99 passing, 99 dribbling, and 96 physical. These numbers were clearly superior to the 98-rated version of Maradona currently available in FC 24. What’s more intriguing is that the visual style, stat fonts, and layout perfectly matched EA's in-game templates, making it look far from fake.

Delving deeper into the in-game attributes, we’re talking about 99 acceleration, 99 finishing, and near-perfect passing and dribbling stats. Physicality was also noticeably boosted, with 99 jumping compared to the 87 on his regular 98-rated card. The 99 version didn't just look powerful; it played like an absolute monster on the pitch. From a usability standpoint, this card would easily be the best attacking midfielder in the entire game, outclassing even endgame Icons and Team of the Season players.

Are the PlayStyles a Giveaway? What Sets This Card Apart

One detail that sparked skepticism was the number of PlayStyles attached to the glitched 99-rated card. Unlike the 98-rated Shapeshifter Maradona, which boasts a long list of PlayStyle+ abilities, this 99 version had noticeably fewer. While the card still had around 10 PlayStyles, this discrepancy made some viewers question the legitimacy. However, it's important to note that not all evolution upgrades transfer PlayStyles accurately, especially if the upgrade path is glitched or unintended.

Despite the reduced PlayStyles, the 99 Maradona card still looked frighteningly powerful. The user showed it within his squad alongside legends like Vieira, Yashin, and Chivu, occupying the Left CAM spot. The chemistry, squad visuals, and player bio matched EA’s design standards perfectly. And when it comes to visual authenticity, this card passed every test. At this point, it was clear: this wasn't some poorly edited screenshot. There was something more to this.

The Evolution Mystery: How Was This 99 Card Created?

So how did this player manage to get a 99-rated Maradona when no one else can? That’s the million-coin question. It all seems to come down to expired Evolutions, particularly one called "Atomic Flea". According to the user, he had a base 91-rated version of Maradona and started the Atomic Flea evolution path. But due to delays or glitches in the evolution system, the final upgrade somehow pushed Maradona beyond his normal cap into 99-rated territory.

This aligns with previous EA mishaps where players who didn’t immediately claim rewards from Evolutions ended up getting massively overpowered upgrades months later. Essentially, if you leave an Evolution path incomplete or let it expire without locking in your boost, there's a chance it could stack future upgrades in unpredictable ways. In this case, it resulted in a player ending up with a Team of the Season-level 99 Maradona—well ahead of schedule.

Is There Any Proof? Video Footage and Player Bio Confirm Suspicion

The player who owns the card not only provided screenshots but also claims to have full match footage of the card in action. According to him, both Maradona and his Future Stars Icon mysteriously received upgrades at the same time: Maradona to 99, and the Icon to 95. While he hasn't shared the video yet, the screenshots of his squad and the card’s in-game bio have already gone viral. Everything from the fonts to the chemistry system seems authentic.

Further interaction with the user showed no signs of foul play. His responses were consistent and confident, and even skeptical viewers on platforms like TikTok admitted it would be extremely difficult to fake the card to such a high level of detail. As more users began commenting and asking about the Evolution path, he confirmed the Atomic Flea Evolution had already expired, and anyone without the required 77-rated Maradona base card could no longer replicate the glitch.

Can You Get This 99 Maradona Too? Is It Still Possible?

Unfortunately, if you're hoping to get your own 99-rated Diego Maradona through the same glitch, it looks like the window has already closed. The Evolution path in question is no longer active, and even if it was, it appears the glitch occurred under extremely rare circumstances likely caused by unfinished Evolutions merging with later updates in EA's system. However, this case has raised serious questions about how Evolutions are coded and what EA might need to fix.

Still, it opens the door to similar possibilities in the future. If you're someone who starts an Evolution and forgets to claim it, don't be surprised if weird upgrades start popping up weeks—or even months—later. Whether this was an oversight by EA or a one-time exploit, the 99 Maradona myth is now officially one of the most legendary FC 24 stories to date. And for some, it may even be a call to dig through expired Evolutions to see what kind of hidden gems might still be waiting.

Conclusions: Glitch, Myth, or Secret EA Mechanic?

While EA has yet to confirm or deny the legitimacy of the 99-rated Maradona, all signs point to this being a real in-game occurrence, not a fabrication. If true, this glitch highlights the unpredictable nature of Evolutions and their potential to create broken, game-altering cards. It also proves that some players who experiment outside the box might just stumble onto something legendary.

So what do you think? Is this the beginning of a new wave of glitched 99-rated cards? Will EA patch this, or are more secret Evolutions hiding in the shadows? One thing’s for surenthis isn’t the last time we’ll hear about a card like this. Let us know in the comments which player you'd love to see at 99-rated, and if you’re planning to chase similar Evolution glitches in the future.
