FC 27 Launch Week Trading: How to Make Coins At the Start Of The Game

An 85 is worth 2,900 SBC score and an 84 is worth 830 — here's the ratio that survives the whole cycle

FC 27 Launch Week Trading: How to Make Coins At the Start Of The Game

Last verified: 17 September 2026. SBC Score values are community-compiled, not published by EA. See the verification note at the end.

Every launch-week trading guide you've read this week gave you a price. Buy 85s at 800. Sell at 1,200. Lovely.

Those prices were already wrong by the time you read them. Here's the thing that isn't going to move: an 85-rated card is worth 2,900 SBC score and an 84 is worth 830. One rating point, three and a half times the value.

That cliff is baked into the game, not into a screenshot of the market from Tuesday afternoon.

830

The cliff, in one step

1,200

Coins: the 85 break-even

The short version of FC 27 launch week trading: work out score-per-coin, not price. Divide a card's SBC score by what it costs right now. An 85 stays the best fodder in Ultimate Team until it passes roughly 1,200 coins, and it still beats a 650-coin 84 all the way up to about 2,270.

That's a rule you can use on Friday, on Monday, and three weeks into the cycle. A price isn't.

What Is SBC Score In FC 27?

SBC Score is the point value each card contributes to a Streamlined SBC, calculated from its overall rating and rarity. You submit cards until you reach a target number, rather than building a squad to a chemistry and position brief.FC 27 threw out chemistry-based SBCs. EA's FUT deep dive confirmed the new system scores every card on rating and rarity, duplicates count, and partial progress saves.

No more building an 84-rated Serie A squad with 7 chem at half eleven at night. That change turns every card in your club into a number. So here are the numbers.

Values compiled from the live game by fifauteam's FC 27 SBC Score tracker. Worth saying plainly: EA hasn't published an official chart. These are pulled from what the app is actually doing, and other outlets running this table as "EA confirmed" are overselling it. Treat it as very good community data, not gospel.

One more caveat that matters if you're stockpiling. The same tracker notes that base and special items currently share identical scores, and that special item values are expected to change at full release. Your fodder maths is stable; your special-card maths might not be.

The 84-To-85 Cliff, And The 91-To-92 Trap

Look at that third column, because that's where the money is. Every step up the ladder costs you somewhere between 20% and 50% more score. Except one 84 to 85 is a 249% jump. Nothing else in the entire table comes close. One rating point does the work of three.

And there's a second thing nobody's flagged: 91 to 92 is a 5% jump. Five percent. A 92 costs a fortune more than a 91 on the market and hands you almost nothing extra in score. If you're ever tempted to bin one of the top-rated FC 27 cards into an SBC later this cycle, that's the trap waiting for you.

The 84-to-85 cliff is structural. It doesn't care what the market does this weekend.

The FC 27 Launch Week Trading Rule: Score-Per-Coin, Not Price

One bit of maths, and you never need another trading guide this cycle.

SBC score ÷ current price = points per coin. Highest number wins. That's it.

Worked example — illustrative prices, check the live market before spending
CardScoreIf it costs…Points per coin
834105000.82
848306501.28
852,9008003.63
864,1001,7002.41
875,5002,6002.12

The 85 isn't slightly better. It's nearly three times the 84 and it beats cards that cost twice as much. Here's the part that makes this durable, and the part the price-based guides can't give you. Run the formula backwards and you get break-even thresholds.

Break-even thresholds — the point where the 85 stops being the best buy
Compared againstThe 85 wins until it costs…Then switch to
An 86 at 1,700 coins~1,200 coinsThe 86
An 84 at 650 coins~2,270 coinsThe 84

So when everyone panics on Friday morning because 85s have doubled, you'll know something they don't.

At double the price, 85s are still the best fodder in the game. You don't sell into that. You keep buying, right up until you hit your threshold. That's the whole method. Score, price, divide, compare. It works on day one and it works in December.

When Does The FC 27 Market Crash?

The heaviest drop lands roughly 20–22 September, when a weekend of tradeable rewards floods the market and the 75-to-84 bracket sags hardest.

Four phases, and the dates are confirmed rather than guessed. EA's launch update and FUT.GG's timing breakdown both put the schedule here.

  • 1
16–17 Sep — Web App only

Companion App opened 17 September at 17:00 UTC. Thin supply, almost no coins in circulation, nobody can complete an SBC because there aren't any. Cheapest prices you'll see. Buy

  • 2
    17–18 Sep — early access

PC 17 September 23:00 UTC, consoles 18 September 00:00 local. Packs open properly, SBCs go live, demand arrives before supply does. This is where fodder spikes. Spike

  • 3
    ~20–22 Sep — the flood

Everyone's played a weekend, tradeable rewards land, and the 75-to-84 bracket gets buried. This is the real crash and it hits low-rated cards hardest. Crash

  • 4
    25 Sep — full launch

The rest of the player base arrives and buys squads. Demand returns, prices firm up. Sell

The mechanism behind all of this is worth understanding rather than memorising. fifauteam's breakdown of FUT market crashes makes the point that crashes are usually self-fulfilling. Creators predict a crash, people panic-sell to get ahead of it, and the selling causes the crash. Which means the crowd is reliably early and reliably wrong, and you profit by being neither.

How Do You Actually Place The Trade?

Every guide tells you to bid below BIN. Almost none of them tell you how. Here's the click path.

  • 1
    Filter properly

Transfer market, rating filter set to 85 minimum and 85 maximum. Leave league, nation and club empty. You're buying a number, not a footballer.

  • 2
    Sort by expiry, not price

Cards closing in under an hour are the ones where the seller has stopped watching. That's where a low bid actually lands.

  • 3
Set max BIN just above the floor

This filters out the hopeful listings and leaves you the real market.

  • 4
Bid 15 to 20% under, then walk

Place bids across a full page, back out, come back in five minutes. Do not sit and watch one card. The whole edge here is volume.

  • 5
    Cap yourself before you start

Pick your threshold from the break-even table and write it down. In the moment you will talk yourself past it.

  • 6
    Keep coins liquid

When EA posts a target score, divide it by 2,900 and you'll know exactly how many 85s you need. Buying before you know the target is guessing with extra steps.

If you're new to the market side of Ultimate Team and half of this reads like another language, the beginner's guide to your first FC 27 squad covers the basics first.

FC 27 Launch Week Trading On 5,000 Coins: Is It Even Worth It?

Below 5,000 coins, no. Your coins do more work in your starting XI than in a fodder pile, and one bad flip wipes you out. Most launch guides quietly assume you've got 20k spare. Here's the version that doesn't.

Under 5k Don't trade

Genuinely. Play games, bank rewards, come back at phase 3 when things are cheap.

5k to 20k One lane

Buy four to six 85s and hold. Don't spread across ratings. Small stacks die from spread, not from bad picks.

20k plus Volume works

Run the score-per-coin filter, buy in bulk, keep at least half your balance liquid until targets are confirmed.

Late to the party? If you're reading this after early access started, the cheap window has closed and that's fine. Your trade isn't fodder any more, it's phase 3. Sit on your coins until the rewards flood lands around the 20th and buy the players you actually want to use, while everyone else is selling them at a loss.

What If The Spike Never Comes?

Fair question, and one the confident guides skip entirely. The 85 thesis rests on one assumption: that early SBCs will demand scores high enough to make 85s the efficient answer. That's a reasonable read of a 2,900-versus-830 table. It is not a certainty.

So set an exit rule now, while you're calm. If 85s pass your threshold before you've built your stack, stop buying and keep the coins.Coins are never a bad position in launch week. Fodder you overpaid for absolutely is. This is also why fodder trading beats pack gambling as a way to build a club. A ratio you can calculate is a different proposition to a drop rate you can't, which is an argument we've made at more length about what FC 27's economy is actually optimised for.

And if you're holding a stack that hasn't moved by full launch on the 25th, that's your signal to sell into the launch-day demand spike rather than waiting for a payday that isn't coming. Small loss, coins back, move on. The people who get hurt in FUT trading aren't the ones who read it wrong. They're the ones who refuse to admit it.

The Ones To Watch Detail Nobody's Leading With

Season 1: Ones to Watch runs to 22 October 2026. Items come through the Season Pass, with select players through SBCs and Objectives. They are not in packs.

That distinction matters. If you were planning to buy OTW cheap and sell them upgraded, that plan doesn't exist this year. But here's the mechanic that actually matters for your squad, and it's buried in the pitch notes.

OTW cards rated below 83 get boosted to 83 OVR, with a guaranteed minimum of 60 Pace and every Position Role++ unlocked. Cards already at 83 or above keep their base attributes.

Then every one of them can take up to four separate +1 upgrades: a Team of the Week call-up, a Player of the Month award, a Star Performer inclusion, and a run of club form.

Read that again. A low-rated OTW with all four upgrades lands at 87 with full Role++ access. That's not fodder. That's a card you build a squad around, and because it can't be traded, the only way to have one is to earn it.

Everyone's busy arguing about 85s. The free 87 is sitting on the Season Pass.

For the full picture on how SBC Score, the FUT Gallery and the rest of this year's changes fit together, we broke down every Ultimate Team change in FC 27 separately.

What Carries Over From FC 26?

Only three things: FC Points, your Rivals starting division, and your club's established date. Everything else resets.

Carries over Keep

FC Points, via a one-time transfer before 1 January 2027. It's optional and can't be reversed. Your Rivals starting division, based on your best FC 26 finish.

Your club's established date.

Doesn't carry over Gone

Coins, players, packs, consumables, stadiums, SP, match records, FUT Champions points, objectives and SBC progress.

All of it resets to zero.

One detail people miss: the transfer only works within the same platform family and the same EA account. Switch from PlayStation to Xbox and none of it moves. fifauteam's carryover guide has the full breakdown.

So your FC 26 balance is not a war chest. Whatever's sitting in that club is staying there.

If you were planning launch week around coins you already have, you're planning around zero.

Where That Leaves You

Three things to take away.

The Cliff is the Strategy. 84 to 85 is a 249% jump in SBC value and no other step in the table behaves like it. Learn that one number and you've learned FC 27's market.

Run the Formula, Not the Price. Score divided by cost. Those thresholds survive the week. Screenshots don't.

Keep an Exit Rule. Decide your walk-away price before you open the market, not while you're staring at it.

If you'd rather skip the grind entirely and start launch week with a balance that lets you act on any of this, FC 27 coins are there via Comfort Trade or Player Auction.

For what it's worth on the trust side: 408,000-plus orders delivered since 2017, a 72-hour money-back guarantee on every order, and a stated incident rate under 0.1%. Not a promise that nothing ever goes wrong, because nobody honest makes that promise. It's a warranty and a track record, which is the part that actually matters when something does.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the SBC Score for an 85-rated card in FC 27?

An 85-rated card is worth 2,900 SBC score, against 830 for an 84 and 4,100 for an 86. That makes 85 the single biggest value step in the table, a 249% jump for one rating point. These values are compiled from the live game rather than published by EA.

Should I buy 85s or 86s for FC 27 SBC fodder?

Divide each card's score by its current price and take the higher number. As a rule of thumb, an 85 beats an 86 costing around 1,700 coins until the 85 itself passes roughly 1,200 coins. Above that, the 86 becomes the better buy.

When does the FC 27 market crash?

The heaviest drop lands roughly 20 to 22 September, when a weekend of tradeable rewards floods the market and the 75-to-84 bracket sags. Prices firm up again around full launch on 25 September as the wider player base arrives and starts buying squads.

Do duplicate cards count towards FC 27 SBCs?

Yes. EA confirmed that Streamlined SBCs accept duplicates and multiple versions of the same player, and that partial progress is saved so you don't have to hit the target in one submission.

Do my FC 26 coins carry over to FC 27?

No. Coins, players, packs, consumables and SP all reset. Only FC Points, your Rivals starting division and your club's established date carry across, and the FC Points transfer is a one-time, irreversible move that must be completed before 1 January 2027 on the same platform family.

Are FC 27 Ones to Watch cards tradeable?

No. Ones to Watch items earned through the Season Pass are untradeable, and all Season 1 Exhibition rewards are untradeable as well. OTW is a squad-building play rather than a trading play this year. FC 27 does include more tradeable rewards elsewhere, including all Division Rivals pack rewards.

How many coins should I keep liquid for SBCs?

Keep enough that you can react once EA publishes the target score rather than committing everything beforehand. When the target appears, divide it by 2,900 to get the number of 85-rated cards you need, then buy to that figure.

Is launch week trading worth it with under 5,000 coins?

Not really. Below 5,000 coins, your coins do more for you in your starting squad than in a fodder pile, and a single bad flip clears you out. Bank rewards from games instead and buy into the phase 3 crash around 20 to 22 September.

Does card rarity change SBC Score in FC 27?

EA states score is based on rating and rarity. In practice, trackers report that base and special items currently share identical values, with special item scores expected to be updated at full release. Treat special-card stockpiling as the riskier bet until that lands.
