FC 27 Launch Update: Every UK Time, Season 1 Date and FUT Change That Matters
Early access in BST, the Season 1 confusion sorted, and every FUT change that actually hits your coins
Last verified: 17 September 2026 against EA's official pages.
You've probably got an alarm set for midnight and you're not entirely sure it's the right midnight.
Fair enough. Half the times floating about are in UTC. That's fine in September, until you realise Britain isn't on UTC in September. One hour out, and you're watching the shop load while someone else is already three packs deep.
Here's the FC 27 launch update in plain UK time. Early access opens at 00:00 BST on 18 September on PlayStation, Xbox and PC. The Web App went live at 17:00 UTC on 16 September, which was 18:00 BST. Worldwide launch is 00:00 BST on 25 September. Season 1 is Ones to Watch, running 17 September to 22 October.
That's the whole thing. Everything below is the detail and the bits people are getting wrong.
- Set the alarm for midnight at the end of 17 September, not 1am.
- Ultimate or Ultimate Plus gets you in on the 18th. Standard waits until the 25th.
- Season 1 is Ones to Watch to 22 October. Destined for Glory is a campaign inside it.
- If you're buying a Destined for Glory card, the upgrade clock may already be running.
- Cards last longer, Champs opened up, and matches finally pay properly.
- Coins are easier to earn this year. They're still the fastest way to fix week one.
FC 27 Launch Update: What Time Does Early Access Start In The UK?
Early access opens at 00:00 BST on 18 September on every platform. BST is UTC+1 and stays that way until 25 October. So every UTC time EA publishes is an hour behind your phone clock.
| What | UTC | UK (BST) | Who gets it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Web App | 16 Sep, 17:00 | 16 Sep, 18:00 | Everyone eligible |
| Companion App | 17 Sep, 17:00 | 17 Sep, 18:00 | Everyone eligible |
| Early access, PC | 17 Sep, 23:00 | 18 Sep, 00:00 | Ultimate / Plus |
| Early access, console | 17 Sep, 23:00 | 18 Sep, 00:00 | Ultimate / Plus |
| EA Play Pro | 17 Sep, 23:00 | 18 Sep, 00:00 | Subscribers |
| EA Play trial, 10 hours | 18 Sep, 04:00 | 18 Sep, 05:00 | Subscribers |
| Worldwide launch, PC | 24 Sep, 23:00 | 25 Sep, 00:00 | Everyone |
| Worldwide launch, console | 24 Sep, 23:00 | 25 Sep, 00:00 | Everyone |
| FC 27 Lite | 25 Sep, 16:00 | 25 Sep, 17:00 | Free |
One thing worth knowing. EA words the console times as "00:00 regional time", which sounds like consoles come later than PC. In Britain, console players aren't behind PC. Midnight BST on the 18th is 23:00 UTC on the 17th. Same moment. You and the PC lot get in together. If you're reading this outside the UK, that console line shifts with you. It unlocks at midnight wherever you are, so the gap against PC depends on your own time zone.
- 16 September — Web App, done
Opened 18:00 BST. If you had an FC 26 club created before 1 August, you're already trading.
- 17 September — Companion App and Season 1
Companion at 18:00 BST. Season 1: Ones to Watch also begins today, a day before anyone can play on console.
- 18 September, 00:00 BST — early access
Ultimate and Ultimate Plus get in. Destined for Glory upgrade tracking and the Ones to Watch club-win window both start counting from here.
- 25 September, 00:00 BST — worldwide launch
Everyone's in. Destined for Glory starts, FC 27 Lite lands at 17:00 BST, and the Season 1 Combined Rarities Gallery Set opens.
- 22 October — Season 1 ends
Ones to Watch closes. BST itself runs until 25 October, so the clocks hold all season.
Which Edition Gets You In On 18 September?
Ultimate and Ultimate Plus. That's it. Standard waits for the 25th.
Ultimate Plus was the early-bird tier and its window shut on 31 August, so if you haven't got it, that ship's gone.
| Edition | Play from | FC Points | Passes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ultimate Plus | 18 Sep | Up to 10,000, five drops | Seasons 1–5 |
| Ultimate | 18 Sep | Up to 6,000, three drops | Season 1 |
| Standard | 25 Sep | — | None |
Both tiers are covered in EA's editions breakdown, and the 23:00 UTC PC unlock is spelled out in EA's pre-order terms. If you're on Standard, you've got a week to kill. Use it on the Web App instead, and our FC 27 Web App guide covers what to do with that head start.
Is FC 27 Season 1 Ones to Watch Or Destined for Glory?
Season 1 is called Ones to Watch and runs 17 September to 22 October. Destined for Glory is the first campaign inside that Season, and it starts on 25 September. A lot of coverage has this backwards. If you've seen Destined for Glory described as the Season 1 headline, that's wrong. EA's own Pitch Notes name the Season after Ones to Watch, and list Destined for Glory as the first campaign after early access. Worth noting the Season opens on the 17th, a day before anyone can play on console. EA hasn't explained that one either.
Season 1: Ones to Watch The Season
17 September to 22 October. The container everything else sits inside.
Destined for Glory A campaign
Starts 25 September, inside Season 1. Future Stars is also a Season 1 theme, with no date confirmed yet.
The Ones to Watch cards are the ones to actually understand. Anything rated 83 or higher keeps its base attributes. Anything below gets bumped to 83. Every single one carries at least 60 pace and launches with all its in-position Role++ unlocked.
Ones to Watch cards keep growing all season. Each TOTW, Star Performer or Player of the Month inclusion is +1 OVR. There's also a one-off +1 if the player's club wins three of its next six domestic league games after 18 September.
The club-win upgrade doesn't care whether your player is any good. It only cares who he plays for.
Why Do Destined for Glory Upgrades Start On 18 September?
Because EA says two things at once, and hasn't cleared it up. The Pitch Notes say Destined for Glory begins on 25 September. The same page says its items upgrade on real-world performances "starting from September 18". That's a week before the cards exist.
- EA's own page gives two different dates for the same campaign.
- The honest read: tracking starts on the 18th, cards land on the 25th carrying what's banked.
- EA has not confirmed that reading, so don't pay a premium based on it.
- This page gets updated the moment EA clarifies.
I'm not going to guess which one's right. The honest read is that tracking starts on the 18th, and the cards land on the 25th carrying whatever their player already banked but EA hasn't said that, so treat it as unresolved.
The first squad is led by Kylian Mbappé, who pulled the most community votes. Morgan Rogers, Matheus Fernandes, Alexander Isak and Bryan Mbeumo are alongside him.
Squads release 15 players a week, which is smaller than you're used to.
What The FC 27 Launch Update Changed From FC 26
This is the part that matters for your coins, and it's mostly good news.
| Thing | FC 26 | FC 27 |
|---|---|---|
| Max PlayStyles+ per item | 5 | 3 |
| Base ICON starting OVR | 86 minimum | 88 |
| ICON nation link | +2 | +1 |
| Hero league link | +2 | +1 |
| Post-match coins | ~500–600 a game | Several times more |
| Champions entry | Division 6 required | Requirement removed |
| Rarity | Common vs Rare | Distinction gone |
| Campaign weeks | — | Roughly five fewer |
Three changes in that table actually reshape how you play FC 27.
The PlayStyles+ cap
PlayStyles+ are the upgraded PlayStyles that make a card feel elite, and the ceiling drops from five to three. Attribute jumps between campaigns shrink too. Cards are meant to stay in your squad longer instead of getting binned every promo.
Champions qualification
The Division 6 requirement is gone.
Champions Qualification Points, the points that get you into Champs, now come from Squad Battles as well as Rivals.
Higher Rivals divisions still earn them faster, but your division no longer decides whether you can qualify at all.
If you're offline-heavy, you've got a route in for the first time in years.
Post-match coins
EA's own comparison is that an FC 26 match paid roughly 500 to 600 coins. Rivals and Champs in FC 27 can pay several times that. You also get between 15 and 100 Season Points per eligible match depending on result and mode, capped at 850 a day.
There's more under the bonnet.
- Holographic items from TOTW 1 onward. Items rated 87 or below drop as Regular Holographic, 88 and above as Pristine, and the Holographic bonus stacks on top of the item's normal rarity bonus.
- Streamlined SBCs, where you contribute items toward a target score instead of solving a chemistry puzzle.
- The Gallery, with more than 100 Sets at launch, and a Season 1 Combined Rarities Set arriving at worldwide launch that pulls together Ones to Watch, Destined for Glory and Future Stars items.
The full breakdown lives in our FC 27 Ultimate Team guide, because it deserves more room than a launch post.
Does The FC 27 Launch Update Kill The Case For Buying Coins?
Not quite, but it gets closer than any year I can remember. More rewards are tradeable. Post-match coins are up several-fold. There are fewer promotional pack offers in the Store, with lower user limits on some of them.
Add that up and coins are easier to earn and easier to move than they were in FC 26. So no, you don't need to buy coins to have a decent club this year.
That's a better game than one where the Store is the only real ladder. It's also a fair chunk of why the pack-first design got a kicking last year. Here's the bit that hasn't changed though. All that extra coin income arrives over the season. It doesn't help you in week one.
What the update fixed Season-long
Matches pay several times more. More rewards are tradeable. Champs is reachable without living in Rivals.
What it didn't fix Week one
Ones to Watch cards are cheapest now, while the market's thin. That's a timing problem, and better payouts don't solve it by Friday.
The player you want sits at a price that won't exist again in October. If that's the gap you're closing, FC 27 coins are there. Two delivery routes: Comfort Trade across all platforms, or Player Auction, where you list the players we name and never hand over a password.
Every order carries the 72-hour money-back guarantee. We've run 408,000-plus orders since 2017 and sit at 4.7 out of 5 from around 1,768 Trustpilot reviews.
Keep the bragging rights.
60 hours of grinding? No thanks. Coin delivery starts instantly, backed by 100K+ players and a 72h money-back guarantee.
Any seller telling you there's no risk at all is lying to you.
What I'll tell you is that it's warranty-backed, and the Player Auction route exists precisely so you don't have to share a login. If you're starting from nothing, read the beginner's first-squad guide before you spend anything.
FC 27 Launch Update: Your Questions, Answered
What time does FC 27 early access start in the UK?
Early access opens at 00:00 BST on 18 September on every platform. BST is UTC+1 and stays that way until 25 October, so every UTC time EA publishes is an hour behind your phone clock.
Which edition gets you in on 18 September?
Ultimate and Ultimate Plus. That's it. Standard waits for the 25th. Ultimate Plus closed to new buyers on 31 August.
Do console players get FC 27 later than PC?
Not in Britain. EA words the console unlock as 00:00 regional time, which is 23:00 UTC on 17 September in the UK, the same moment PC unlocks. Outside the UK the console unlock shifts to your own local midnight.
Is FC 27 Season 1 Ones to Watch or Destined for Glory?
Season 1 is called Ones to Watch and runs 17 September to 22 October. Destined for Glory is the first campaign inside that Season, and it starts on 25 September. A lot of coverage has this backwards.
Why do Destined for Glory upgrades start on 18 September?
Because EA says two things at once and hasn't cleared it up. The Pitch Notes say the campaign begins on 25 September, while the same page says its items upgrade on real-world performances starting from September 18. Treat it as unresolved until EA clarifies.
How do Ones to Watch upgrades work in FC 27?
Items rated 83 or higher keep their base attributes and anything below is boosted to 83, with at least 60 pace and all in-position Role++ unlocked. Each Team of the Week, Star Performer or Player of the Month inclusion adds +1 OVR, plus a one-time +1 if the club wins three of its next six domestic league games after 18 September.
What changed in Ultimate Team for FC 27?
PlayStyles+ are capped at three per item instead of five, base ICONs start at 88, the Common and Rare distinction is gone, Champions no longer requires Division 6, and post-match coins in Rivals and Champs pay several times the roughly 500 to 600 a match FC 26 gave.
When does FC 27 Lite release?
FC 27 Lite arrives on 25 September at 16:00 UTC, which is 17:00 BST. It's a free limited preview with selected modes rather than the full game, and you can upgrade to the full version at any point.
Do you still need to buy coins in FC 27?
No. More rewards are tradeable and matches pay several times more than FC 26, so a decent club is achievable without spending. The gap that remains is week one, when Ones to Watch cards are cheapest and your earned income hasn't arrived yet.
The Short Version
Midnight at the end of 17 September, BST, if you've got Ultimate or Ultimate Plus. Midnight on the 25th for everyone else. Season 1 is Ones to Watch until 22 October, with Destined for Glory landing inside it on the 25th.
Cards last longer, Champs is easier to reach, and matches pay properly for once.
Check the times against EA's Pitch Notes yourself if you want. That's where all of the above came from, and this page gets updated the moment EA moves anything.
